Museum Spakenburg is situated on a beautiful place in the harbour and opposite the shipyard.
Museum Spakenburg is a contemporary museum full of contradictions about the past of the municipality Bunschoten and Spakenburg. The museum is housed in eight buildings and is a combination of indoor and outdoor museum. It is located on both sides of the Watersteeg, one of the historic streets in Spakenburg. The museum complex consists of several houses, a shop, farm haystack and a smokehouse. In total an area of approximately 1500 m2.
There are ten exhibitions, complemented by some permanent displays and a temporary exhibition. In short, Museum Spakenburg is not a collection of old objects but a place where living history can be experienced.
