Fort at the Buursteeg is one of the largest and most important defence works on the Grebbe Line. Erected in 1786, the fort was so large that several hundred soldiers could camp within its fortified walls. It accommodated troops during the war of 1794-95 against the French, was on the front line in May 194O and became a German base during the Allied advance from Ede. The Grebbe Line Visitor's Centre is in the northern section of the fort, where you can discover the story of its fascinating past.
