With an area of over 1100 hectares, De Boom Estate is one of the largest estates in the province of Utrecht. It is a varied and scenic landscape between Leusden, Woudenberg, Achterveld and De Glind. The farms and houses on the estate can be recognized by their blue shutters, sometimes with white mirrors.
The estate was founded by the noble De Beaufort family, in the person of Mr. Arnoud Jan de Beaufort. He was also the mayor of Leusden. The last owner, Anna Aleida de Beaufort, Miss Annie, placed the family property in a foundation to prevent fragmentation. The De Boom Foundation strives for a sustainable future and supports social activities in the area.

De Boom Estate is a good example of an area that more or less still looks the same as it did when it was developed. It is an area with flower-rich grasslands and small-scale vegetation. Deer, badgers, barn swallows, little owls and kingfishers feel at home here. In many other places in the Valley, hedgerows, alder banks and bushes have disappeared over the years.
The province of Utrecht has made a great video about the estate. Click this link to watch it on YouTube.
Walking tip: The very first clog path “Schutpad” runs through the park forest around the country house. You can combine this route with the “Termatenpad”.
Cycling tip: "On the pedals with Miss Annie", is a 23km cycling route which takes you along the properties in Leusden that were once owned by Anna Aleida de Beaufort (Miss Annie).
