The battery on the Gein is an earthen defence work on the end of the Geindijk-Nigtevecht Line in Abcoude. Between 1800 and 1810, two covered earthworks were built on either side of the Gein, near the Oostzijdse windmill. There was no storage depot for guns or ammunition, nor were there any quarters for the men. They were later included in the Defence Line of Amsterdam as part of the Geindijk-Nigtevecht Line without any alterations.
