Opera on the forecourt of Slot Zuylen
Sorry, this activity is not available anymore
In the first week of July, SLot Zuylen will be the setting for a modern adaptation of Mozart's Entführung aus dem Serail. This witty opera, set in a Turkish harem, premiered in Vienna in 1782. At the time, there was a veritable Turkomania, but European views of the Middle East were full of prejudice.
The performance at Slot Zuylen retains the beautiful music, but brings the story to the present and reverses the relationships. In the performance of about an hour, the objectivity of the beholder is quite tested. Are we really so unbiased? Who is really the villain?
There will be an early (17:00) and a late performance (19:30) each evening.
